Program Overview
We’re a supportive, remote developer community where aspiring engineers build fun, real-world projects together, grow through mentorship, and level up their skills. Join a team that values collaboration, learning, and launching careers - together.

Web Surfing Studios is a free, non-monetized developer community where members from all backgrounds—students, bootcamp grads, and self-taught engineers—gain practical experience through real projects and structured mentoring.

Unlike a course or bootcamp, we skip theory and focus on hands-on, professional software development. Members are expected to have foundational programming knowledge and are supported in applying it to real-world scenarios.

Our approach mirrors a real software company: you’ll use enterprise tools, collaborate on live products, and build a portfolio that stands out. After self-paced onboarding (see Program), you’ll join team projects and contribute as your schedule allows.

Led by an industry veteran, we ask only a few hours per week in exchange for mentorship, growth, and a collaborative environment. No fees, no monetization—just learning, building, and community.

Footnote: Web Surfing Studios is a passion project run by our team lead during evenings and weekends. None of the projects we build are monetized, and no money is exchanged for participation. While we operate like a professional software team—building real, live websites using industry-standard tools and practices—the absence of financial incentives allows us to stay focused on what matters most: learning, growth, and community.

What You'll Learn and Do...

Learn the Technology

From beginner to advanced, we cover C#, web development, databases, cloud platforms, and more. Our curriculum equips you with the practical tech skills needed to thrive in the software industry.

Learn the Processes

Go beyond code. Learn project management, version control, CI/CD, and other core practices used in modern software teams. You'll gain hands-on experience with tools and workflows used in the field.

Build your Portfolio

Work on real projects that simulate actual industry scenarios. Every contribution is something you can showcase—demonstrating your skills and initiative to potential employers.

Why We're Different...

Guided Onboarding

Before jumping into group projects, you'll follow our step-by-step onboarding guide—designed to teach you the tools, technologies, and workflows we use. It's more in-depth and supportive than most on-the-job training.

Fun & Public Projects

Work on real, engaging projects you can proudly showcase in your portfolio and on your resume. Unlike typical junior roles with basic assignments, our projects are ambitious and unrestricted by corporate red tape.

Supportive Community

Our entire organization is built around growth and mentorship. There's no such thing as a bad question, and no need to worry if you're still building your skills—everyone here is learning together.

Flexible

With just a few hours a week required, this opportunity is more flexible than most. Outside of 1–2 brief weekly meetings, you can learn and contribute on your own schedule, in the way that works best for you.
