A program that has grown and developed over five years with the contributions of many members.

Although we aren't an official 501(c)(3) organization—it’s quite costly to achieve that status—we operate as a completely free program. No money is exchanged, and members gain the same skills, knowledge of technologies, and experience with processes as they would in an enterprise software company.

Humble Origins

Web Surfing Studios began as a series of short bootcamps, where members would attend focused sessions on specific topics. While I thoroughly enjoyed teaching these bootcamps, I realized that true mastery required more than just ten 1-hour sessions. To foster deeper learning, we extended the program to span several months or even years, allowing for a more comprehensive and sustained educational experience.

Web Surfing Studios was originally established in 2019 as a platform for my contracting work, allowing me to channel my expertise into a variety of projects. Over the years, I collaborated with a diverse range of clients, including both medium-sized companies and smaller, family-run businesses. My work spanned from crafting websites for local "mom and pop" shops to developing robust e-commerce platforms. Each project was an opportunity to tailor digital solutions to the unique needs of my clients, ensuring their online presence was both effective and engaging.

Although I've since transitioned away from contracting, my passion for development remains strong. I now focus on creating and refining my own applications to enhance my own learning, dedicating my efforts to bringing innovative ideas to life. Through this ongoing work, Web Surfing Studios continues to evolve, reflecting my commitment to growth and creativity in the tech space.
